Well-trained people knowledgeable in spatial analysis and skilled in using GIS software are essential to the GIS process. There are three factors to becoming a GIS professional: education, career path, and networking. The GIS Education Center will get you started with your education, network you through organizations such as Bay Area Automated Mapping Association (BAAMA), and introduce you to people who work as GIS professionals.
The GIS Education Center at City College of San Francisco teaches GIS concepts and applications using state-of-the-art software, ESRI's ArcGIS 9. Through customized workshops and hands on classes, the Center offers instruction in the fundamentals of GIS and how it can be applied to your job, whether you work for a nonprofit, a transit company, city government, or a business. The reach of GIS expands into all disciplines
