The Transportation Data Analyst is responsible for data acquisition, analysis, processing, and integration of various transit data types and formats into the NextBus Data Model.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Transportation Data Analyst is responsible for data acquisition, analysis, processing, and integration of various transit data types and formats into the NextBus Data Model. The Analyst will also use NextBus internal tools to verify that the data is correct and that the systems are functioning as well as possible. The ideal candidate must be able to work with clients, servicing accounts by continuously monitoring customer needs and evaluating system performance. The majority of the Data Analysts time will be spent manually processing schedule and route data using internal GIS tools and python scripts. The remaining time will be spent using tools to analyze problems and determine possible improvements.

SKILLS
The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of Windows, Unix, and SQL and have experience analyzing large data sets. Familiarity with research and analysis, project management, and office software packages (Word, Excel, etc) is also necessary. You must be very good at learning systems and in debugging problems. Other skills which would be nice to have are a background in GIS (ESRI ArcGIS specifically), and ability to create and modify programming/scripting languages such as Python.

Must be self directed, a quick learner, very detail oriented, and have excellent communication skills. Preferably have experience as a mass transit user and an interest in improving public transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in math or science and 0-3 Years Experience.
